Creative Clines

Ruma Rima are learning to use description when writing.
We created clines which could describe something such as speed, a building or a sound.
cline is a scale of language items that goes from one extreme to another, for example, from positive to negative, or from weak to strong.

QR codes

Our QR codes are ready to go!
We have finally completed our QR code magnets. Everyone in our class created their own codes which link to their individual learning blogs. We then printed, laminated and put a magnet on the back so we can put them on our fridges at home for our whānau to have easy access to our learning.
What do you think?

Muesli Bars

Wow the starting gun has gone and Ruma Rima have blasted into Term Two! We are focusing on food and are designing and creating recipes for a muesli bar which best describes the West Coast. Here are some shots of the students in their teams completing their first trial in their learning process. Once students completed this stage, in their teams they reflected on how their baking went and began researching New Zealand culture which they could then incorporate into their recipes for trial two. The students have specifications from the stakeholder which they are required to include in their designing and creating. Check out students individual learning blogs for further updates.

Comment below and let us know what NZ flavours you think best show New Zealand Culture. We would love to hear from you!

Wow 2018 has come and we have been so busy with our learning we haven't even posted on our class blog yet! We have been learning about how different people learn through different styles; there is no wrong just different ways. Try the activity below with others and see your differences. The image is all of the pieces of paper we created from following the instructions. And the cool thing: not one piece is the same. Tino pai Ruma Rima

  • Give each students a blank origami paper.

Read the instructions below, giving students time to complete each instruction

◊ Fold in half a final time.
◊ Tear off the lower left-hand corner.
